Major responsibilities included physical assessment of critically ill neurosurgical patients and formulation of nursing care plans.  Responsible for initiating and organization and management of an 8 bed neurosurgical intensive care unit at a level I Trauma Center.   Responsible for the development and implementation of a twelve-week course to train nurses to care for patients in the Neurosurgical ICU and Surgical Intensive Care Trauma Unit. Responsible for daily patient rounds to ensure quality patient care.  Responsible for the direct supervision of neurosurgical residents in the ICU.  Composed and implemented the Do Not Resuscitate   Policy for terminally ill patients.  Responsible  for  grief  counseling with families  of  terminally ill patients, including counseling family members to assist the organ transplant  team  in  the procurement  of  donor  organs.  Participated in scientific research  studies  related  to  the  control  of intra-cranial  pressure  in  critically ill patients.
